Artist's Description

The female lays 6–17 (most often 8–12) white to yellowish eggs, and raises one brood in a season. The ducklings are taken by their mother in her bill to rivers or lakes immediately after hatching, where they feed on freshwater invertebrates and small fish fry, fledging when 60–70 days old.

Cathie Douglas

Cathie was born and raised in the Kootenay Region of beautiful British Columbia. She bought her first camera at the age of 12 and started shooting and exploring. Nature is her play ground, healer, teacher and inspiration. Many of her photos are taken on her frequent kayak paddles on Kootenay Lake and adventures into the surrounding mountains. She loves to capture and share the beautiful patterns of nature and the life giving principles inherent within them. When Cathie is not taking still photos, she spends her time creating documentary films and educational videos on social justice and natural laws and principles with her partner Larry Moore through their multi media company Heartspeak Productions. ...
